Congratulations to our 2009 Big Oak Classic Champions

1st annual Fight Against Cancer Tournament was a huge success on June 22nd. We raised a total of $8,637. These funds were donated to the American Cancer Society in memory of Linda Ennis & Graham Sharman.

Update on the Graham Sharman Memorial Scholarship: The entire Sharman family would like to thank everyone who contributed to the scholarship fund since it’s inception last September. To date over $5,000 has been raised. We have started an account specific to this fund. Your generosity has been truly incredible and greatly appreciated. Through your generosity our father's memory will live on in some amazing ways.The funds will benefit two different scholarships. Many of you know that Graham was a big supporter of the military and their families. He did a lot of great things for our service members both monetarily and simple kindness through out his life. In keeping with his spirit and passion for these very important people we have set up an annual College scholarship ($1,500) through the Fisher House. This will benefit a child of military personnel from Fort Drum in Rome, N.Y.
We will keep you posted as to when the specific individual gets awarded the scholarship. When this happens people will be able to attend the ceremony if they choose. If you are interested in learning more about this organization you can visit the website at www.fisherhouse.org
Second, is an annual $500 scholarship to be awarded to a graduating senior golfer on either the Geneva, Midlakes or Desales H. S. golf teams. All three schools practice and compete at Big Oak in some capacity.
Our father was a big advocate for junior golf programs through the years. There are countless stories of how he brought many junior golfers in to the game. Not only learning the game itself but the sportsmanship and integrity that goes along with it. The scholarship winner will be selected at the end of the season through nominations by the head coaches of all three teams. You will also be updated on this as the time approaches.
